This king of Boletus was found in the aprox. 8000 elevation yesterday.
Unfortunatly it was full of worms..... sad smiley

I found a bunch of those yesterday a bit above 9000ft near Rampart Reservoir. I'm drying a ton of them right now! Thanks for sharing!

The ones that Dodgemomma found are most likely Agaricus Albolutesens. I found the same kind (see post "Please help to identify!!!"winking smiley and did some reading and web searching. I conclude that they resemble Agaricus more than anything else. They are rotting in my compost as I decided not to take a chance. Maybe next time I'll just cook them and eat them somewhere in the close proximity to the hospital....... smiling smiley This is the only way to know for sure...... smiling smiley

Sorry! They are Cortinarus. Boletus do not have Gills. They have pores.

Here are some Boletus Edulis.

Agaricus albolutescens does not have a cortina. Dodgemomma's pic is a Cortinarius.

As the saying goes. "There are old mushroom hunters and there are bold mushroom hunters but there are no old bold mushroom hunters."

Be safe and only eat what you are 1000% sure is the correct identification.
