These popped up today - are they edible?
August 09, 2013 03:02PM
Hi,

I found these in my yard in the foothills outside of Boulder, at around 6000 ft. Can anyone help identify these, and are they edible? Looking at the coloradomushrooms.com site it looks like Lepiota rachodes, but it says to do a spore print to verify. I don't know how to do that - can someone help me quickly before the mushrooms are eaten by a deer or just wither away?

Thanks,

Mark

We did a spore print, and saw white spores. Saute'ed three tonight and had them over noodles. They were vey good! If we didn't make a mistake, and get ill tonight, we plan to fix the last two tomorrow as "mushroom burgers"!

You will get more help on Facebook in the Mushroom Identification page, or Fungi Magazine etc.
