Hydnum repandum

Hydnum repandum
(Hedgehog, Sweet Tooth, Dentium Repandum)

Habitat

High elevation coniferous forest.

Description

The appearance is much like the golden chanterelle with spines underneath rather than ridges. This is a very good edible mushroom that is not mistakable for much else except a Chanterelle until you see underneath. Free of bugs and good storage. A favorite pleasant surprise to find every time!
