Habitat

Under conifers growing on the ground usually in troops. They like to grow in marshy areas along streams where you find moss.

Description

These are usually passed up by most mushroom hunters as they are seen as just another LBM. These can be very abundant at times when other mushrooms are quite scarce typically early in the season. They have a very tough almost wood like stem which is one of the main ways to identify this mushroom. They are also more of a Reddish brown. There are a few variations including L. bicolor which has a more lavender base and mycelium.
