Habitat

Grows under Ponderosa and Lodgepole pine trees. Usually just pushing up through the pine needles.


Description

This is another edible Russula. They can be very abundant under Ponderosa and Lodgepole pine trees. They stain grey when cut or scratched in the context of the stalk. The bugs get to them rather quickly. Growing in small groups scattered to gregarious. Very common.
