WELCOME TO COLORADO MUSHROOMS

Colorado Mushrooms is dedicated to Colorado Mycologists, Mycophagists or just those in search of wild mushrooms in the Colorado and Rocky Mountain area. This site is intended to be a mushroom identification reference for people who would like to learn more about our wild mushrooms and others who already enjoy gathering mushrooms in Colorado. Information on this site is for reference purposes and is not intended to be a substitute for advice of an Expert or Experienced Mycologist. To gather Mushrooms safely you should first learn from an Expert along with several references such as web sites and field guides. Mistaking an Edible mushroom for a poisonous one is very easy if you are careless. Never eat any mushroom unless you are 100% certain of its identification.

Mushroom season has ended here in Colorado. The 2008 season will begin in the spring. Look for Oysters at lower elevations in early spring, then for Yellow Morels in May.
