Grows in the forest on buried and decaying wood.

Description:
Peziza arvernensis is very similar to other Peziza species such as Peziza repanda. The differences in Peziza species are minute and often require microscope to key to species. Beginners can confuse these with the Wood ear mushroom however they are very fragile.
