Artomyces pyxidatus

Artomyces pyxidatus
(Crown Tipped Coral)

High elevation forest. Grows from old stumps, fallen logs and rotting wood.

This unique coral mushroom always grows from wood. That is an easy way to differentiate them from Ramaria species as they do not grow from wood. It has "crowned" tips giving it the nick name Crown Tipped Coral. Mushrooms like these feel as if they came from the sea.
